In Seal Beach, California, a collaboration with Amy Rex Designs addressed a perilous cooktop placement.
Jamie, The Cabinet Nerd, leveraged NKBA Kitchen Planning Guidelines, researching minimum clearances for range tops, guaranteeing safety for young children and providing peace of mind in a beautifully functional kitchen space.

In collaboration with Studio Dearborn and homeowner Kathleen, The Cabinet Nerd was brought in to expand on and refine the cabinetry details of this suburban Greenwich, CT kitchen remodel.
When asked, Kathleen based her design decisions on "function first. I am willing to sacrifice some looks and budget to make my new kitchen functional."
She stated that "strategic function for cooking and storage" are missing from the current layout.
That lead me to ask Kathleen, what are your top 3 priorities in your new kitchen design? "To have beautiful design and clear counters", she stated.
To dig a little deeper into what beautiful design means to Kathleen I asked, are there any specific feelings or story that you'd like to tell in your new kitchen? "It will be an open space so the symmetry and doors need to be tight."
Ok, Ive got that disciplined, intentional feeling noted, now lets get to the heart of your kitchen, Kathleen. What brings you joy? "Cooking with my family surrounding me."
And I have one last question during our lifestyle assessment. What does l u x u r y mean to you? "For me luxury means well built and well designed."
